During 2015, we were lucky enough to be Blogger Ambassadors for Drayton Manor Theme Park. This meant that the whole family had season passes and it quickly became our very favourite day out.
Back in April, we were invited to the Thomas Land™ expansion launch. The Fat Controller officially opened the expansion, which made the attraction 40% bigger. There were many new rides and of course we had to try them all. Libby and I agreed that our favourite was Captain’s Sea adventure where you sit in little boats squirting other riders with water.
After reviewing the event in April, we were selected to be Blogger Ambassadors for the year and we were able to collect our season passes in June. So our visits to the park began in earnest. Libby was allowed to choose what she wanted to do for her birthday. She could either have a party or go for a day out anywhere she wanted.
Of course, she chose to spend her birthday at Drayton Manor. This year, Yogi Bear has been showing in the 4D cinema which we all loved. Yogi and Boo Boo caused havoc in their latest adventures and the 4D experience really transported us all to Jellystone Park to be part of their escapades. We headed to Drayton Manor again a week later for Libby’s friend’s birthday. That’s when we realised that there are loads of great rides for toddlers in the rest of Drayton Manor Park as well as Thomas Land.
In July, we were invited to hear a bit about what was going on during the 2015 season. I was really excited to be shown to the brand new Thomas & Friends™ themed VIP rooms in Sodor Airport. Each room is decorated with amazing paintings of the Thomas the Tank Engine characters. There is also a balcony where you can look out over the park.
2015 was the park’s 65th anniversary and it celebrated by welcoming back Rory the Lion as the park mascot. I also heard about the Drayton Manor Little Moments campaign on social media. The park was encouraging people to enjoy and share their little moments together. This really struck a chord with me because I know that in years to come, I’ll look back and the little moments will be my happiest memories.
Fast forward to Halloween and we headed to the War of the Worlds Fireworks Spectacular at the park. This was by far the best fireworks display we’ve been to. I have to admit I am a huge fan of War of the Worlds anyway, but it just made the perfect backdrop to the fireworks. There was also a laser and water display on the lake and many of the park’s rides were open throughout.
The last event we attended in 2015 was Drayton’s Magical Christmas. Libby had been looking forward to this all year and it was everything she had hoped for. Lots of her favourite rides were open, there was music, dancing, fake snow and Christmas decorations. The 4D cinema was showing the enchanting Polar Express film and best of all, she had a lovely chat with a very authentic Father Christmas who gave her and Lia some excellent gifts. The day was rounded off perfectly with a fireworks display by the lake before we headed home full of the Christmas spirit.
Thank you Drayton Manor for a wonderful 2015. Congratulations on your 65th anniversary and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2016.
