Drayton Manor Park is excited to welcome Ross Campion, the new Grill Inn Manager, to its catering team. Ross joins a full team in the wonderful Grill Inn and is already rolling up his sleeves for a busy summer.
Ross has proved to be paramount to the running of the restaurant, as his role is varied from one day to the next. It includes leading a team of 25 waiters and waitresses, as well as, getting involved himself in waiting tables and feeding hungry Drayton Manor Theme Park customers.
With a career in catering spanning over 17 years, starting off as a pot washer and glass collector at the age of 16, he really has worked his way up through various venues and cities until he got his golden opportunity by securing a management role at Pizza Hut. Ross brings with him a wealth of knowledge and has worked for companies such as TGI Friday’s and Alton Towers in which he has held various management roles.
Interestingly, Ross has also served some high brow celebrities including Mcfly, Peter Andre, Emma Watson and Jonathon Ross to name a few. And when he isn’t managing The Grill, he loves to create family memories of his own, with two children and a little boy due in September later this year.
His passion is football, and his support for Liverpool Football club goes to great lengths. He has been a fan ever since he can remember and has a signed Steven Gerrard shirt in his front room in pride of place. However, after having 7 pins and a screw in his ankle after a football accident, he is unfortunately no longer able to participate, but is a chairman for the same football club. When Ross has some free time, he enjoys Star Wars and Transformers.
Here are some interesting facts that Ross wanted to share with us about The Grill Inn restaurant:
- During the summer we serve on average, 200-300 guests daily with the number increasing at weekends to around 350-400 people.
- A new menu for the summer has just been launched with Home Smoked favourites being a highlight.
- A table in The Grill Inn is dedicated to Sir Stirling Moss and there is also a function suite called The California Room.
Ross says that the best thing about working at The Grill Inn is: ‘Meeting and speaking to our guests from all walks of life who are coming to the theme park for an escape/holiday/daytrip and to have some fun’.
He also goes on to say, ‘if we can enhance that experience by supplying mouth-watering food, great service in a relaxing environment that is my motivation and passion working at The Grill Inn. No two days are the same as are no two people’.
