Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire is celebrating after picking up a European Star Award for its Ben 10: Ultimate Mission rollercoaster in the ‘Europe’s Best Family Rides’ category.

The awards ceremony was hosted at the Euro Attractions Show (EAS), a trade exhibition that brings together leisure and attractions industry professionals from across Europe, on 7th October 2015 in the Swedish city of Gothenburg.

The European Star Awards celebrate the most noteworthy theme parks, most innovative ideas and the most spectacular coasters and attractions, with a total of ten winners announced across 13 categories ranging from ‘Europe’s Best Theme Parks’ to ‘Europe’s Best New Coasters.’

Drayton Manor was awarded third place in the category for its ‘Ben 10: Ultimate Mission’ coaster – a ride that has been delighting guests young and old for four years. Based on the Ben 10 TV series, produced by Cartoon Network, the ride is the first of its kind in Europe, launching riders forwards on their first tour of the track before they return travelling backwards along the same route.

The track itself is 180m long and reaches heights of 20m, whilst the coaster reaches speeds of up to 55kph and a g-force of three.

George Bryan, Company Director at Drayton Manor Theme Park, said: “We are delighted to have been honoured with this fantastic award. It’s wonderful to gain recognition within the European Theme Park industry and it is a real achievement for the whole team that works tirelessly to ensure Drayton Manor is an amazing day out for families.”
