Red Panda Encounter

Get close to our adorable Red Pandas, Tika and Pema, in their luscious green habitat and discover interesting facts about this endangered species. Join an experienced keeper and watch as our Red Panda’s take part in a training session. Ask questions and discover how Drayton Manor Park is helping these endangered animals. Don’t forget to take away your personalised certificate at the end.

The experience costs £80 for a maximum of 4 people and there is a minimum age requirement of 10 years old. The experience will take place at 4pm on a day of your choice and lasts 30 minutes. Park tickets must also be purchased.

 

Creepy Crawlies

Meet some of the wonderful creepy crawly friends we have in our Education Centre. You will get to discover three different species of invertebrates and chat with our experiences team members who will uncover weird and interesting facts about them. This is a must for all insect lovers and a perfect chance to meet unique species. At the end of the experience you get your very own certificate to take home.

The experience costs £50 for a maximum of 5 people and there is a minimum age requirement of 4 years old. The experience will take place at 4pm on a day of your choice and lasts 30 minutes. Park tickets must also be purchased.

 

Reptile Encounter

Delve into the world of reptiles and meet some of the worlds most intriguing cold-blooded animals. Our Reptile Encounter allows you to get close to three fascinating species of reptiles! Learn more about our scaly friends as our zoo keeper talks about their native habitats, what they like to eat and much more. Take home your very own certificate to show your friends.

This experience costs £40 for a maximum of 5 people and runs at 4:30pm during main season. There is a minimum age requirement of 4 years old and will last 30 minutes. Park tickets must also be purchased.

 

Skunk Encounter

Meet Drayton Manor Park’s very own skunk! You and up to 4 others can get up close and personal with a skunk and learn all about these mischievous animals. Ask questions and learn intriguing facts while helping out with a skunk training session. Each person gets a certificate to take away with them.

This experience costs £50 for up to 5 people and runs at 3:30pm during main season. The minimum age requirement is 8 years old and the experience will last 30 minutes. Park tickets must also be purchased.

 

TAPIR FEEDING

Meet our unique South American mammals in this brand new feeding experience! Our family of Tapirs are waiting patiently for you to come and feed them on our new purpose built feeding platform. Learn about these vulnerable animals from the keepers who work with them daily and help out with feeding at the same time! Take away a shiny certificate from your experience too.

This experience costs £50 for up to 4 people and runs at 3:00pm during main season. The minimum age requirement is 4 years old and the experience will last 30 minutes. Park tickets must also be purchased.

Terms and Conditions

For all experiences

Once booked, experiences are non-refundable under any circumstances. Experiences must be paid for upon booking. There will be no animal contact for Red Panda or the Tapir Experience as the welfare of the animals is our top priority. You must follow the safety instructions of the experience leader at all times, or the experience may be cancelled at any point. The experience will last a maximum of 30 minutes, which will include the safety briefing. You may get the chance to take photos, please do so with the flash turned off so not to scare our animals.

Red Panda

No person under the age of 10 can take part in the experience. Available at 4:00pm each day (only when the park is open, subject to availability) with a maximum group size of 4 people. This experience will take place in our Red Panda enclosure. Our red pandas may choose not to take part in the training sessions and cannot be forced to do so. 

Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access to this experience and all guests are required to walk a minimum of 20 steps and be able to stand for the duration of the experience. There is a step up into the enclosure and guests must be able to negotiate uneven ground.

Creepy Crawly

No person under the age of 4 can take part in the experience. Available at 4:00pm each day (only when the park is open, subject to availability) with a maximum group size of 5 people. Contact with animals cannot be guaranteed as the welfare of the animals is our top priority. This experience will take place in our Education Centre (indicated by the lightbulb on the park map). Access to this experience is via a standard doorway.

Reptile Encounter

No person under the age of 4 can take part in the experience. Available at 4:30pm each day (only when the park is open, subject to availability) with a maximum group size of 5 people. Contact with animals cannot be guaranteed as the welfare of the animals is our top priority. The experience will take place in our Education Centre (indicated by the lightbulb on the park map). Access to this experience is via a standard doorway.

Tapir Feeding Experience

No person under the age of 4 can take part in the experience. Available at 3:00pm each day (only when the park is open, subject to availability) with a maximum group size of 4 people. There will be no animal contact as the welfare of the animals is our top priority. This experience will take place in our tapir enclosure on a feeding station. Our tapir may choose not to take part in the feeding sessions and cannot be forced to do so.

Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access to this experience and all guests are required to walk a minimum of 20 steps and be able to stand for the duration of the experience. There 6 steps onto the feeding platform and guests must be able to negotiate uneven ground.

Skunk Encounter

 No person under the age of 8 can take part in the experience. Available at 3:30pm each day (only when the park is open, subject to availability) with a maximum group size of 5 people. Contact with animals cannot be guaranteed as the welfare of the animals is our top priority. This experience will take place in our Education Centre (indicated by the lightbulb on the park map). Access to this experience is via a standard doorway.

I’m an Ultimate Pass holder, do I receive a discount?

Yes! Ultimate Pass holders receive a 20% discount.

Do I have to pre-book or can I book on the day?

All experiences must be pre-booked ahead of your visit to avoid disappointment.

What’s included in the price?

Included in your experience is the chance to get up close and personal with some amazing animals. The experience lasts 30 minutes and during this, you will receive a safety briefing, in-depth knowledge and facts from our experienced zoo keepers, a training or feeding session plus the chance to take photographs. Park tickets are required and can be booked separately. 

Are there age restrictions?

Yes, each experience has a minimum age restriction. This is the age that all participants must be, on the day of the experience. These are as follows –

Red Panda – minimum age of 10 years

Creepy Crawly – minimum of 4 years

Reptile Encounter – minimum of 4 years

Tapir Feeding Experience – minimum of 4 years

Skunk Encounter – minimum age of 8 years

Can I touch or hold the animals?

Due to animal welfare we cannot allow contact with our Red Panda or Tapir and contact with reptiles, creepy crawlies and our skunk is at the experience leader’s discretion. You will be able to get close to the animals and even take part in training sessions with them, however the welfare of the animals is always our priority.

What happens if there is bad weather?

During high winds and heavy rain, our outdoor experiences might be cancelled. This is at the discretion of the experience leader on the day. An alternative indoor experience will be offered, or you can transfer your experience to another day (subject to availability). The Skunk, Creepy Crawly and Reptile experiences are indoors.

If you choose not to take part in the experience due to the weather, please note no refunds can be given in any situation. We may be able to transfer your experience to another date, or offer an alternative experience, please visit Guest Services before your experience is due to start or contact our team on 01827 287979 to discuss this. Are the experiences available all year round?

Experiences are available during main season on days when the park is open (subject to availability). Main season is from 27th March-31st October. Please visit: https://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/opening-times for opening times and dates.

Can I take photographs?

Yes, you are welcome to capture your memories by taking photographs, however, please make sure this is okay with the experience leader first and turn off the flash.

Do the experiences include park entry?

Park tickets are not included in the price of the experience and must be bought separately. We have lots of different offers and options for park entry, so it can work out better value for money to buy these separately.

Can I get a refund?

Can I purchase this as a gift for someone else?

Do I need special clothing?

No, you do not need special clothing, however, if your experience is outdoors, please dress appropriately with sensible footwear.
