BIAZA's Big Bug Bonanza

Zoo Updates

Drayton Manor is supporting BIAZA’s Big Bug Bonanza event, which occurs every other year. Throughout the week, BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquaria) zoos and aquariums host fun activities and events to raise awareness about insects and creepy crawlies. All whilst showing guests what fascinating creatures exist in the bug world.

This year, we asked local schools to create ‘bug bugs’ out of old plastics. We had 3 schools take part. These schools include: Adderley Primary School, Manor Primary School and Stockingford Academy. We sent the schools information about 5 different bugs (bee, woodlouse, spider, ladybird, dragonfly) and choose one of these creatures to learn about and to design.

To help educate the public on the importance of these bugs and how to help them, we will be showcasing these fantastic creations around the Dino Trail throughout August.

Be sure to stop and read the signage around the bugs to learn more about the simple ways you can help bugs in their own space at home.
