Drayton Manor Zoo
Welcome to Drayton Manor Zoo, where the wonders of the wild await your discovery!
Nestled in the heart of Drayton Manor Resort, our zoo offers a captivating experience for all ages. Explore carefully curated exhibits showcasing a diverse range of creatures, from charismatic carnivores to playful primates.
The zoo is not only a space of discovery, but also for calm reflection with open spaces perfectly positioned to offer respite from excitement for guests who may need a quieter moment. Just behind Tidmouth Hault is a sprawling area perfect for strolling and introducing yourself to new friends.
Join us in fostering a love for nature, learning about conservation, and celebrating the extraordinary beauty of the animal kingdom.
Drayton Manor Zoo welcomes collaboration with academic, zoological, and professional research institutions. We actively support and conduct research that enhances captive animal management, benefits conservation programs, and contributes to scientific knowledge about animals and their natural habitats.
Our research includes both animal-based studies and visitor studies. Animal-focused research may explore behaviour, welfare, nutrition, husbandry, enrichment, ecology, reproduction, and conservation. All studies conducted at the zoo are non-invasive and primarily based on observation.

Application Process
Our Research Coordinator works with animal management teams to identify priority research areas. Applications focusing on these topics are more likely to be approved. To request a copy of the priority list, email emmahorton@draytonmanor.co.uk.
Each application is assessed based on scientific value, ethical considerations, and feasibility, including staff time and resources. Researchers must submit an application at least three months before their proposed start date.
Please see the BIAZA Research Resources for more details about research in BIAZA institutes, as well as resources and other information to help you develop your research project.
