Near endemic to Mozambique, but occurs peripherally in Zimbabwe at lower mountain slopes

Primarily insectivorous consuming insects, millipedes and spiders.

During reproductive age, males will develop an orange colouration ventrually throughout the body.

Gorongosa girdled lizard
This large flattened girdled lizard is found on Mount Gorongosa in Mozambique. Males are dark brown to black with bright orange undersides, whereas females are dark brown with scatterings of cream. They can be found on stacks of rocks and have been known to spend their whole life on the same rock.
