The African Pancake Tortoise is from Kenya; Tanzania.
They eat flowers, fruit, grasses, herbs, leaves, seeds.
They lay 1 egg at a time, usually laying up to 6 per year. Incubation lasts around 178 to 237 days.
African Pancake Tortoises live 25-30 years but longer in captivity.
About the African Pancake Tortoise
The pancake tortoise is quite a different shape from other tortoises. The adult's shell is about 15cm long and only about 3cm high presenting a very flattened appearance, hence its name. The underside of the shell is very soft and flexible so that it can squeeze into crevices in times of danger.
